Login Required in Reports
Posted by Heather Zauner on 10 August 2015 04:40 PM

Symptom:

Users are prompted for login credentials when they go to the Reports section of the Inquisiq LMS.

Cause:

SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) “hijacks” the ‘/reports’ folder all IIS websites (including Inquisiq) that are running on the server that it has been installed.

Applies To:

SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) 2008 and later when installed on the same server as your Inquisiq LMS installation.

Background:

SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) provides a web interface for reporting functionality; the interface is configured as a virtual folder (/reports) which appears on every IIS site on the server overriding any actual or virtual folder that the site itself may have created.

Either SSRS needs to be reconfigured to use a different folder name or all the IIS sites on the server need to have their /reports folders moved to different locations.

Resolution:

Edit the virtual directory in SQL Server Reporting Services Configuration Manager to use a folder name other than “Reports” (ex: “reports” to “reportssql”):

  1. Open Reporting Services Configuration Manager.
  2. Select Report Manager URL.
  3. Change the input in the Virtual Directory field to a folder name other than “Reports”.
  4. Click the Apply button.
  5. Click the Exit button.
