Inquisiq Enrollment Terms Clarified

When creating an enrollment, it can be a bit confusing as to what all of the settings do. The terms used in the enrollment settings are all broken down here.

Admin-Created Single-User Enrollment – One-Time Enrollment

A one-time enrollment grants users access to a course or courses once for a specified period of time.

Lifespan is the range of dates within which the user will have access to the course. Once the end date of the lifespan of the enrollment has passed, the course will be removed from the user’s account, and they will no longer have access.

Due is the date on which the course must be completed by the user. If the lifespan of the enrollment runs past the due date, the course will still be accessible to the user after the due date, just put in an “Overdue Courses” section of their account. If they do complete the course past the due date, their completion will be noted as overdue.

Admin-Created Single-User Enrollment – Recurring Enrollment

A recurring enrollment grants users access to a course or courses multiple times on a periodic basis, either indefinitely or for a specified period of time.

Lifespan is the range of dates within which the enrollment will recur. Once the end date of the lifespan of the enrollment has passed, the course will no longer automatically be added to the user’s account on the periodic basis set.

Access is the equivalent of a One-Time Enrollment’s Lifespan feature: once the amount of time allotted for access to the course has passed, the course will be removed from the user’s account, and they will no longer have access, until the course recurs again.

Due is the date on which the course must be completed by the user. If the access period of the course runs past the due date, the course will still be accessible to the user after the due date, just put in an “Overdue Courses” section of their account. If they do complete the course past the due date, their completion will be noted as overdue.

Recurrence is how often you would like for the course or courses to be added to the user’s account.

User Self Enrollment (set in individual course settings)

Access is the amount of time that the user has access to the course, where once the end of the access time has been reached, the course will be removed from the user’s account, and they will no longer have access.

Time Limit allows you to give a certain amount of time for users to complete a course. Once this time limit is reached, the user’s access to the course is revoked.

Group Enrollments

Regarding enrollment start…

If a user is in a group prior to an enrollment Lifespan Start, their enrollment will begin at the Lifespan Start (if there is a delay set, they will be enrolled that amount of time after the Lifespan Start). If a user is added to a group after the Lifespan Start, their enrollment will begin when they are added to the group (if there is a delay set, they will be enrolled that amount of time after they are added to the group).

New One-Time w/Fixed Dates

Utilize this type of enrollment when you want all users in a group to take the course once, and to all have the same due date and time to access the course, regardless of when they are enrolled in the course.

Lifespan Start and Lifespan End dictate the timeframe within which the users in the group have access to the course. Once the Lifespan End date is reached, if the course has not yet been taken, the course will be moved to the “Expired” section of the user’s “My Account” page.

Due – This is the date on which the course must be completed by the user. “Lifespan End” must run past the due date. If they do not complete the course by the due date, the enrollment will be moved to the “Overdue” section of their “My Account” page. If they do complete the course past the due date, their completion will be noted as overdue.

New One-Time w/Relative Dates

Utilize this type of enrollment when you want all users in the group to take the course once, but each user’s due date and time to access the course is dependent on when they are enrolled in the course, rather than the same for every user.

Lifespan Start and Lifespan End dictate the timeframe within which users who are already in the group and who are added to the group will be enrolled in the course.  Before the Lifespan (if the Lifespan Start does not begin immediately), users removed from the group will not be enrolled. After the Lifespan (if the Lifespan End is not infinite), nobody added to the group will be enrolled into the course.

Delay – If a user is already in the group when the enrollment is created, they will be enrolled in the course this amount of time after the Lifespan Start. If a user is added to the group after the Lifespan Start (but before the Lifespan End), they will be enrolled in the course this amount of time after they were added. If there is no delay and the user is already in the group when the enrollment is created, they will be enrolled right at the Lifespan Start. If there is no delay and the user is added after the Lifespan Start (but before the Lifespan End), they will be enrolled right at the time that they are added to the group.

Access controls when the user loses access to the course. The course will be moved to the “Expired” section of the user’s “My Account” page, and the user will not be able to launch it.

Due – This is the date on which the course must be completed by the user. The Lifespan End date must run past the due date, so the course will still be accessible to the user after the due date; it will appear in the “Overdue” section of the user’s “My Account” page. If they do complete the course past the due date but before the access period is over, their completion will be noted as overdue.

New Recurring w/Fixed Dates

Utilize this type of enrollment when you want all enrolled users to take the course on a periodic basis, and within the same date range.

Access controls when the user loses access to the course. The course will be moved to the “Expired” section of the user’s “My Account” page, and the user will not be able to launch it.

Due – This is the date on which the course must be completed by the user. “Access from First Launch” must run past the due date, so the course will still be accessible to the user after the due date; it will appear under the “Overdue” tab of their Enrollments widget. If they do complete the course past the due date, their completion will be noted as overdue.

Recurrence – The user will be re-enrolled in the course as often as dictated here. An end date cannot be set for this parameter. Recurring enrollments recur until the enrollment is deleted.

New Recurring w/Relative Dates

Utilize this type of enrollment when you want all enrolled users to take the course on a periodic basis, but each user’s date range within which they can take the course each period is dependent on when they are enrolled, rather than the same for every user.

Lifespan Start and Lifespan End dictate the timeframe within which users who are added to the group will be enrolled in the course.

“Access” must run past the due date, so the course will still be accessible to the user after the due date; it will appear in the “Overdue” section of their “My Account” page. If they do complete the course past the due date but before the Access period is up, their completion will be noted as overdue.

Recurrence – The user will be re-enrolled in the course as often as dictated here. An end date cannot be set for this parameter. Recurring enrollments recur until the enrollment is deleted.
